Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections Opens Satellite Office, Early Voting Location

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Friday, April 29th, 2016

The Macon-Bibb County Board of Elections will open its new satellite office and early voting location on Monday, May 2, for the Party Primary and Nonpartisan General Election. The entrance to newest location will be on the Plum Street side of the Historic Macon Terminal Station in Downtown Macon (200 Cherry Street). There will be a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new location on Friday, April 29, at 9:30 a.m.

The new office – as well as the current office – will be open for early voting Monday-Friday, May 2-20, from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Both will also be open for early voting on Saturday, May 14, from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. For more information about voting and the 2016 Elections, visit the Board of Elections website by clicking here.

We are very excited about opening our new satellite location and to be able to offer people a second early voting location,” says Board of Elections Chairwoman Cassandra Powell. “We are finally able to exhale because we’ve been working for so long to make this happen. The voters on the east side now have an alternative to driving across town to vote.”

“We hope by offering a second early voting location wait times will be reduced,” says Elections Supervisor Jeanetta Watson. “By having it hear at the Terminal Station at the center of our public transit system, we’re hoping to increase voter turnout. This will be easy for the entire community to get to.”
