CJ Korea Express opens Facility in Macon-Bibb County

CJ Korea Express, part of the Korean based CJ Group, has established a logistics warehouse in Macon-Bibb County to serve Kumho Tire. The company has located in 33,000 square feet in Ocmulgee East Industrial Park and will employ approximately 4 to start. CJ Korea Express will coordinate receiving and shipping of rubber for the new Kumho Tire plant in Sofkee Industrial Park.
The CJ Group is a $23 billion conglomerate involved with Food and Food Services, Bio and Pharm, Entertainment and Media, Logistics and Retail. CJ Korea Express has revenue of $5.6 billion and is involved in Contract Logistics, Parcel Delivery, Freight Forwarding and Maritime Business globally.
“This is the first Kumho Tire supplier we have located in Macon,” states Starr Purdue, Chairman of the Macon Economic Development Commission. “We hope to see additional suppliers as Kumho’s production increases,” continues Purdue.
Kumho Tire has begun preliminary testing at its new 1 million sf, state of the art tire manufacturing facility in Macon. The plant is projected to build 4 million tires annually with 450 employees.
“Kumho Tire was a great team effort between the state, the Industrial Authority, Macon-Bibb County, Macon Water Authority, the Board of Education, MEDC and the Chamber,” states George Greer, Chairman of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce. “We are excited to welcome CJ Korea Express to the community.”
