“Betty the Yeti” Presented by Middle Georgia State University Theatre

Middle Georgia State University Theatre presents the play "Betty the Yeti" April 20-24 at the Macon Campus Theatre.
This is the last play that Sydney Chalfa, Middle Georgia State's longtime theatre director, will put on for the University as a faculty member. She is retiring in May.

"Betty the Yeti" showtimes are 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, Thursday, April 21, Friday, April 22 and Saturday, April 23, and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, April 24. The Macon Campus Theatre is located in the College of Arts and Sciences Building on the Macon Campus. Admission is free to Middle Georgia State students, faculty and staff with ID; $5 for seniors and non-Middle Georgia State students; and $8 general admission.

Play synopsis: Deep in the forests of northern Oregon, environmentalists clash with loggers in a furious battle to determine the future of the land. Which is more important: the preservation of the natural landscape or the lives of the men and women who depend on the harvesting of lumber? Russ T. Sawyer is one logger who thought he knew where he stood. Having recently lost his wife to the zealous leader of an environmentalist group, he's been sitting in the treetops, mourning both his state of unemployment and his new-found bachelorhood. Suddenly, a female sasquatch emerges from the forest. Russ is torn: should he go against his politics and protect the trusting animal, whom he has named Betty, or cash in on a deal that will destroy the poor creature's habitat?
