J. Don Spillers, Jr., DMD, MS, of Spillers Orthodontics in Warner Robins, passed the Georgia Association of Orthodontists presidential gavel to Mark Dusek, DDS, MS, of Broderick, Dusek and Deleon Orthodontics in Savannah, during the GAO 2016 Annual Meeting at Reynolds Plantation, Greensboro, Ga., on Saturday, Feb. 27.
The purpose of the GAO is to advance the art and science of orthodontics, contributing to the dental health of the public and representing the specialty of orthodontics in Georgia to the public, the state dental association, various governmental agencies, insurance companies and industry and dental service corporations.
As the 2015 GAO president, Spillers planned the day-and-a-half annual meeting which featured three speakers and had 98 orthodontists attending. Topics covered included new aesthetic brackets from 3M Unitek, diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea, and the integration of 3D technology into the orthodontic practice.
“It has been a privilege to serve our state orthodontic society for the betterment of our patients statewide,” says Spillers, who has served on the board of GAO since 2010. “The GAO is in great hands with Dr. Dusek as president. I know he’ll work hard for the patients and orthodontists of Georgia and continue to advance the mission, vision and values of GAO.”
