Macon Attorney Knighted by the Kingdom of Denmark

Her Majesty The Queen, Margrethe II of Denmark has appointed Christopher N. Smith a Knight of the Order of Dannebrog in recognition for his valuable services as Consul of Denmark in Georgia. This Royal Order of Chivalry was established in 1671. Since 1794 Danish Knighthood has been bestowed on a diverse but very limited number of North American recipients including Nobel Laureates, diplomats, members of the military, artists, authors, scientists, clergymen, seamen, academicians, business and political leaders. The Order is named for the Danish national flag, the Dannebrog which by legend dates back to 1219 and is still in use today.
Mr. Smith is a graduate of the University of Georgia and the Mercer University Walter F. George school of Law. He has practiced law in Georgia since 1991 and established his private law practice based in Macon in 1993. His practice has an emphasis on civil matters which include, business and personal injury law. He is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States and the Supreme Court of Georgia. He also serves as Manager of Smith Investment Properties, LLC which develops real estate for lease and sale. In 2006 he was appointed Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Denmark. The Royal Danish Consulate was established in Georgia in 1802 and is one of the oldest foreign missions in the state.
