Cox Communications and TV One recently presented two local Macon-Bibb County students with $2,500 scholarships.  Rutland High School 11th grader Ashlynn Kirkland, and Westside High School senior Jasmin Duhart each received the scholarship following an essay contest in which the students described “What Black History Means to Me.”  They were chosen from a group of over 40 submissions.  Both girls were presented with the scholarship during Cox and TV One’s special screening of the NAACP Image Awards at the Douglass Theatre in Macon on February 5.
