Career Women’s Network of Macon is Pleased to Announce The 2016 Women of Achievement Award Recipients

Each year as part of Women’s History Month, Career Women’s Network honours its Women of Achievement, in recognition of their achievements and contributions to the advancement of women, their communities, and their professions. This year’s honourees are Dr. Linda Brennan and the Honourable Verda Colvin.
Dr. Linda Brennan has been a Professor of Management at Mercer University since 1997. She received her Ph.D. from Northwestern University, her MBA from the University of Chicago, and her B.I.E from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She has been published in dozens of scholarly journals and has authored and edited five books. Dr. Brennan also serves as President of the Board for Macon Area Habitat for Humanity. She’s active in the Rotary Club of Downtown Macon, and extends her community outreach by mentoring junior colleagues, college students, and at-risk teenage girls. Dr. Brennan is an active member of Martha Bowman United Methodist Church.
Verda Colvin is a Superior Court Judge in the Macon Judicial Circuit, serving Macon-Bibb, Crawford, and Peach Counties. She was appointed by Governor Nathan Deal on April 16, 2014, and is the first African-American female appointed to the Macon Judicial Circuit. She holds a B.A. degree from Sweet Briar College in Virginia and her J.D. from the University of Georgia. Committed to both personal and professional service, she is a member of the Macon Bar Association, GABWA and The Gate City Bar-Judicial Section. She also shares her expertise by serving on many non-profit boards, and is a member of the Rotary Club of Downtown Macon. Judge Colvin is a member of First Baptist Church where she serves as Children and Youth leader.
A special Women of Achievement Awards Presentation Luncheon is scheduled for Tuesday, March 1, 2016, at 11:30 am in the Conference Center at Middle Georgia State University. Please enter through the Charles H. Jones Building.
