Collegiate Venture’s Managing Member and local real estate developer, Gary B Spillers announces the company’s purchase of a hotel franchise to build a 94 room Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham hotel to serve the Milledgeville, Lake Sinclair, and surrounding areas. This $14,000,000.00 investment will create 37 jobs for the Milledgeville economy of which only 7 will be local college students who have a career interest in hotel and restaurant hospitality.

“We are excited to bring this luxurious extended stay product to the Milledgeville area. I have always believed that a first class hotel adjacent to Lake Sinclair and Highway 441 north would be a win-win situation for the Lake Country area, the local colleges, and the city of Milledgeville, said Spillers.”

“We chose the Wyndham brand for several reasons, but at the top of our list is the luxurious feel and quality, that can be offered at a competitive price. The amenities that we will offer include, lakeside views, spacious rooms, one & two bedroom suites with a fully equipped kitchen, microwave / dishwasher, free Wi-Fi as well as complimentary breakfast daily, plus fitness center and business center, pool, guest laundry with onsite facilities, as well as valet cleaning services. We also will provide a social hour featuring our rooftop bar overlooking the lake, we will be pet-friendly, and of course the Wyndham loyalty rewards program is just a little taste of what we will have to offer with this great property,” Spillers added.

The Manager of the new hotel will be Pamela Jackson, CHA, who formally managed the Hampton Inn located in Milledgeville, and held the title as a Hilton Ambassador as well as numerous community service awards within her company. When the Hampton was recently sold she was replaced with the new owner who decided to manage the hotel on his own. Pamela is really excited and looking forward to putting her hospitality “mojo” back into the hospitality world, and looks forward to working within the community again as well as giving her guests that home away from home feeling, that they deserve when they travel. What better way to do this than with a new and exciting product such as the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham.

Gary Spillers & Collegiate Ventures is known for the ability to restructure older neighborhoods in college towns, by making them become vibrant again by creating new developments that increase property values of the adjoining properties. “This site is no different than marginal properties that we tackled in Auburn, Tuscaloosa & Athens with the unfinished condos next door. There needs to be a plan to clean up these condos as we develop our hotel. We are sure this will happen even if it means that we will have to get involved in the process, we have done it before, we can do it again!” said Spillers
