The Cherry Blossom Festival is pleased to announce that three of its staff members have received promotions with expanded leadership roles.

Maria Garnto has been promoted to Executive Director of Operations. In addition to her duties as Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Garnto will assume responsibility for many of the Festival’s operations.

Garnto is a lifelong resident of Middle Georgia and has over 15 years of accounting experience. She graduated magna cum laude from Macon State College (now Middle Georgia State University) and received her MBA from Georgia College and State University. She has been with the Cherry Blossom Festival for eight years.

"Maria has clearly demonstrated excellent financial and administration management skills. Her wide range of Festival experience will serve her well as she tackles operations responsibilities," said Jake Ferro, President and CEO of the Festival.

Catherine Harmon has been promoted to Director of Programming. Harmon calls Macon her hometown, and after graduating from Auburn University, she received her Masters of Teaching in Secondary Education from GCSU. Harmon joined the Cherry Blossom Festival in February 2014 as an intern and became Program Coordinator in May of 2015.

“Since joining the Cherry Blossom Festival team as an intern, Catherine has performed her responsibilities in a positive and professional manner.  She’s a quick learner with strong organizational skills and an excellent choice as Director of Programming," Ferro said.

Brandi Marks has been promoted to Administrative Assistant and Program Coordinator. Marks has lived and worked in the Middle Georgia area her entire life. She joined the Cherry Blossom Festival in February 2014, quickly rising to the position of Secretary and Marketing Assistant.

“Brandi, a lifelong Festival lover, came on board when we needed her most. She performed beyond expectations. I am very excited about Brandi taking on an expanded list of responsibilities," said Ferro.
