Cherry Blossom Festival revealed the official art for the 2016 Festival at the BB&T Insurance Services Fine Art & Wine Celebration on Thursday, December 3.
The Festival commissioned Leslie Sparrow of Macon to create the fine art and Georgia King, also of Macon, to create the pin art.
Sparrow’s painting honors two people who were influential in the founding of the Cherry Blossom Festival: William Fickling Sr. and Carolyn Crayton. Sparrow is studying figure and portraiture with oils with Marc Chatov of Atlanta.
King is a senior majoring in accounting at the University of Georgia. She works with acrylic, pottery, ceramics, and pen and ink. Earlier this year, King designed two Cherry Blossom Festival tiles in the train station of Kurobe City, Japan, Macon’s sister city.
