CGTC Students Donate to Toys for Tots

Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Wednesday, December 16th, 2015

Students and staff at Central Georgia Technical College’s Hawkinsville Workforce Development Center are making a difference for local children. As a drop–off point for Toys For Tots, the Center collected more than a dozen toys to donate to the US Marine Corps Reserve project.

The Toys for Tots drive at each of the CGTC campuses was initiated by the Phi Beta Lambda student organization. Once all collections for each campus are totaled, all donations will be given to SSgt. Joshua Colantonio, local Toys for Tots campaign coordinator. Members of PBL participate in community service projects throughout the year. Ann Walker, a student member of PBL and instructional aide at the Hawkinsville Center, oversaw the drive.

During the Holiday season, Toys for Tots will disburse toys to local families in need, including those in Pulaski County. The Toys for Tots program collects new, unwrapped toys each year to distribute to less fortunate children in the local community. The goal is to send a message of hope to these children that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
