In honor of its 120th year, Fort Valley State University is  launching a new mobile app that will put the university's important resources at the touch of a fingertip. The new features will allow Wildcat students to find out about their academic progress, purchase tickets, and help Wildcat supporters purchase tickets and give to the university. The app is free.

Dr. Jessica Bailey, interim president for FVSU, said the new app will help Wildcat supporters stay connected with the university using the latest technology.

"We designed this new application to help bring FVSU fully into the digital age," Bailey said. "This new help will make students' lives easier. They'll be able to keep track of their academic progress, find out their latest schedules, and so much more."

The new FVSU app includes many exciting new features for university students.

The Campus News and Events tabs will provide users with the latest updates about FVSU's current events. The app will deliver official news releases and articles that are released by the university, as well as blogs written by faculty, staff and supporters of FVSU.  Wildcat sports fanatics can also purchase tickets to the latest football and basketball player through this new app.

Additionally, there are new features incorporated into the app to keep the FVSU community safe. Vital emergency numbers are provided to students. Inside the notification tab, students and staff members can "opt-in" to receive the alerts about threats or dangers through campus safety.

Under the app's Academics Tab, FVSU students will now have access to the Desire2Learn course management system, which will deliver syllabi, course content, documents and multimedia content to students. Students will also be able to submit assignments, take tests, quizzes and collaborate with instructors and classmates using the D2L tab. Additionally, current students can find out about their course schedules and grades. There is also a telephone directory available to help individuals easily find a number to call departments and employees.  The Wildcat Mail tab is also conveniently listed to help students read their e-mails on their phones.

Under the alumni tab, Wildcat graduates can financially give back to the university. There is also updated information provided about the latest drives, fundraisers and other important initiatives through the FVSU Foundation.

Under the Campus Social Media tab, students can keep up with the latest official posts from FVSU on Instagram, Flickr, Facebook,  Twitter and YouTube. You will also be able to find out the latest Athletic Events on campus through their social media page.

The requirements for the APP are as follows. Android Phones require version 4.03 and higher to use the new app. iPhone users will need to have iOS 7.0 or later to use the phone. It is also compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The app is optimized for iPhone 5, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
