CGTC to Host Careers in Construction Day

On Friday, November 6, from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., Central Georgia Technical College will host the third annual Careers in Construction Day on the College's Macon Campus. This event is geared toward high school students interested in pursuing a career in the construction and energy fields.
 
Governor Nathan Deal recently issued a proclamation declaring October 26-30, 2015, as Careers in Construction week. The proclamation states that Careers in Construction week is “designed to increase public awareness and appreciation of the construction craft professional and the entire construction workforce.”
 
Twenty-two vendors will be available to provide various demonstrations where students can get a hands-on experience for each occupational area. Several areas will be represented, including sheetrock, masonry, electrical, carpentry, welding, HVAC, heavy equipment, safety and general contracting. Students will also tour the construction related program areas of CGTC. Students will attend from counties throughout the middle Georgia area.
 
The local Careers in Construction day is co-sponsored by the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia, Associated General Contractors of Georgia, Inc., All-State Electric, ARC Document Solutions, Georgia Power, Piedmont Construction Group, Reeves Construction, Sheridan Construction, Conditioned Air, Garbutt Construction, Geotechnical & Environmental Consultants,  Greene & Associates, Macon Power, Southeastern Systems Technology, Carpet Salvage II, Pyles Plumbing & Utility, and Southern Safety Supply.
