Navicent Health Foundation recently presented a $50,000 award to the Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) Foundation for the purpose of purchasing equipment for Health Sciences programs and supporting student scholarships at the College. Dr. Ivan H. Allen, president of CGTC, and Tonya McClure, assistant vice president for Advancement at CGTC, accepted the gift from Navicent Health Foundation officials.

“We are so appreciative of the partnership we share with the Navicent Health Foundation and Navicent Health,” said McClure. “Not only will this gift provide us the opportunity to purchase state-of-the-art equipment and provide much-needed scholarships, it will benefit our students by allowing us to better prepare them for the workforce.”

The gift will be used to purchase equipment to support CGTC’s educational training programs in Paramedicine, Clinical Laboratory Technology, Medical Assisting, Practical Nursing, and Radiologic Technology. Additionally, a portion of the funds will support student scholarships awarded by the CGTC Foundation to subsidize educational costs.

“The Navicent Health Foundation is proud to partner with Central Georgia Technical College,” said Ellen Terrell, interim chief development officer for Navicent Health Foundation. “Together, we are making sure the central Georgia community will have the workforce necessary to take care of our future patients.”

CGTC and Navicent Health have a long-standing partnership. Through the years, CGTC has been able to help provide a skilled and competent workforce to support local medical professions by working together with Navicent Health. Navicent’s support of CGTC’s academic training programs has given the College’s Health Science programs a solid foundation by providing educational clinical space, expert input on health science program advisory boards, and various other levels of support.
