Macon Business & Industry Awards Luncheon Thursday

The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce and the Macon Economic Development Commission host this annual event to honor outstanding business and industry in Central Georgia for their exceptional contributions to the community. Qualifying businesses are evaluated on their economic impact to Central Georgia, as well as their corporate citizenship and volunteer activities. The awards are open to all businesses in Macon-Bibb County, regardless of their membership status in the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce.
In 2014 B & D Industrial was named Industry of the Year, Secure Health was named Business of the Year and B & B Free, Small Business of the year. "B&D Industrial was truly honored to have been selected for the 2014 Industry of the Year award presented by the Macon Chamber of Commerce and the Macon Economic Development Commission. I am proud of what we have accomplished and thankful for all our employees and customers who have made it happen," said Andrew H. Nations, President and CEO B& D B&D Industrial, Parent company to B&D Technologies, Scale Systems and B&D Service.
Dr. Norman Firchau, President and CEO of Porche Consulting, will address the attendees. The topic of his speech, Operational Excellence will convey the importance of delivering consistently superior performance. The 2015 Business & Industry Awards scheduled for 11:30 AM on Thursday, November 12th at the Armory Ballroom.
Awards will be given in three categories at Thursday’s luncheon. Small Business of the Year will be awarded to a company that has been in business at least 5 years and has 50 employees or less; Business of the Year nominees must have been in business at least 5 years, been engaged in commerce in Macon & Bibb County, and have more than 50 employees; and the Industry of the Year will be awarded to a company that is engaged in manufacturing, warehousing & distribution or logistics, have at least 50 employees and been in business at least 5 years.
