Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO

Monday, October 19th, 2015

The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce is celebrating Membership Appreciation Week October 19 – 24. The week kicks off with a free Google Let’s Put Milledgeville on the Map workshop sponsored by Cogentes to help small businesses grow their online presence. The workshop will provide training for businesses and organizations setting up a Google Business account and provide tips to increase search engine optimization. The workshop will be held on Monday, October 19 at the Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and lunch will be provided. The workshop is free for Chamber members and only $25 for non-members.

Let’s Put Milledgeville on the Map is part of Google’s Get Your Business Online program and aims to bring community members, business owners, and civic leaders together to help small businesses succeed on the web. “Four out of 5 consumers use search engines to find local information nearby, yet only 37% of businesses have claimed their listing on a search engine,” says Soo Young Kim, Head of Small Business Engagement at Google. “Small businesses are the engine of local economies and when they flourish, their communities do as well.”

The Milledgeville-Baldwin County Chamber of Commerce is excited to celebrate their members during Membership Appreciation Week. Chamber members are the foundation of the organization and this is a way to thank them for their continued support. Each day, the Chamber will be celebrating its members with a variety of events and activities; details can be found on their Facebook page. The highlight of the week is the annual Membership Appreciation Street Party on Thursday, October 22 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Everyone is invited to come out and enjoy a variety of dishes from Chamber member restaurants, while enjoying the sounds of Southern Persuasion band. The event is free for Chamber members and only $20 for non-members.
