The 19th annual Southeast Model African Union Conference will take place November 5-7 on the Macon Campus of Middle Georgia State University. About 250 students are expected to attend. The conference will officially convene at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, in the banquet hall of the Professional Sciences and Conference Center. Jeremiah Sulunteh, Liberian ambassador to the U.S., will be the guest speaker.
SEMAU is a simulation of the proceedings of the African Union. It provides a unique opportunity for university and college students to study the role, structure and performance of the African Union in search for solutions to key economic, social, political and security issues facing the African continent. Through simulation, participants gain a better understanding of the various determinants, capabilities and constraints that shape the domestic and foreign policies of African countries, as well as the partners of cooperation and conflict that characterize intra-African diplomacy.
The conference is led by students from various universities and colleges. The students represent different African countries and will discuss written resolutions and proposed solutions to issues faces by the African Union.
