Staff Report From Middle Georgia CEO
Friday, October 23rd, 2015
James Pettis, 36, entrepreneur and business owner in Middle Georgia has announced his run for Georgia State Senate District 20. This seat is being vacated by the retirement of Senator Ross Tolleson.
“As a business owner, real estate investor and the husband of a teacher, my family and I are directly impacted by the decisions made in our government. I am frustrated with the negative impacts that too much government involvement has created and the direction politicians are taking.” This has driven Pettis’ decision to get into this race.
“I am running because I believe we need a problem solver, and I believe we can create economic prosperity by changing old school approaches and getting government complexities out of the way,” said Pettis. “Representing this district successfully is not just about voting yes or no. It is about getting to the root of an issue, bringing people together and developing creative solutions to improve our quality of life.”
Pettis earned his Bachelors degree from Valdosta State University and an MBA from Georgia College. Pettis began his career as a teacher at Perdue Elementary before starting his own business. He now has over 130 employees, owns multiple small businesses and real estate properties. James’ wife Anna is a first grade teacher. They live in Kathleen with their two boys Tharpe, 6 and Brantley, 4 and are active members of Crosspoint Church.
