Remer Y. Brinson III, President of State Bank & Trust Company, announced today the appointment of W. Cameron Nixon as Executive Vice President & East Georgia Regional President. Nixon had previously served as Senior Vice President & Senior Lending Officer of First Bank of Georgia.

“Cameron brings a wealth of market knowledge and leadership skill to his new position,” said Brinson. “He is well known and very active in the community, and we are pleased that such an experienced and talented banker will be leading our efforts here.”

As East Georgia Regional President, Nixon will lead State Bank’s retail banking and lending operations in the greater Augusta, Georgia market. State Bank currently has seven office locations throughout Richmond, Columbia and McDuffie counties.

A native Augustan, Mr. Nixon graduated from Evans High School and The University of Virginia. He has more than 25 years of banking experience, and served as Senior Lending Officer of First Bank of Georgia for more than 10 years until its acquisition by State Bank Financial Corporation, the parent company of State Bank & Trust.

Nixon currently serves as Chairman of the Augusta Downtown Development Authority and is incoming President of Historic Augusta. He has also served in numerous capacities for other nonprofit community organizations.

He and his wife Patricia have three children and live in Augusta.
