New CEO at Wesley Glen Ministries in Macon

The Board of Wesley Glen Ministries is pleased to announce that Kathy McCollum will serve as the organization’s next
President and Chief Executive Officer beginning August 31. “The Board, staff, families, program participants and
residents of Wesley Glen warmly welcome Kathy with great confidence in her ability to lead us on an upward trajectory,” said Tom Swift, Chairman of the Board of Wesley Glen Ministries. “Her compassion, business acumen, fundraising skills and capacity to master the issues facing us in this challenging regulatory environment will ensure that our residents and program participants have the resources they need to live full and meaningful lives.”
Wesley Glen Ministries of Macon, Georgia, is a private, nonprofit agency and ministry of the South Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church serving developmentally disabled adults. Established in 1984, the organization provides housing and a continuum of programs in a Christian environment.
A resident of Macon, Kathy McCollum, currently most recently served as Director of Construction and Engineering, Georgia District, for AT&T, where she has worked in various capacities since 1981 overseeing as many as 500 employees, complying with state and federal regulations and managing multi-million dollar budgets. As a member of the LaGrange College Board of Trustees, Leadership Council and Alumni Association, and as a volunteer at her
churches in Augusta and Macon, she participated in fundraising campaigns, soliciting pledges and gifts for annual giving and capital campaigns. She is currently enrolled in a Philanthropy and Development master’s degree program at LaGrange. An involved and devout Methodist and member of Riverside United Methodist Church in Macon
“Kathy’s unique mix of skills, experiences and talents, her deep connection to Wesley Glen’s mission, and her professional demeanor were a winning combination for the Search Committee,” said Wesley Glen Board member Robert Hughes, who chaired the Search Committee. “We eagerly await Kathy’s arrival and look forward to supporting her as Board members, parents, guardians and friends of Wesley Glen.”
McCollum succeeds Rev. William D. Oliver, who retired after serving as President and CEO of Wesley Glen Ministries for more than a decade. The Wesley Glen Ministries Board of Trustees engaged Witzleben Associates of Durham, North Carolina, to assist in the search for the new President and CEO.
“I am deeply grateful to the Search Committee, the Board of Trustees, Dr. Oliver, the staff, families, guardians, residents and all those who participated in the interview process,” McCollum said. “I am inspired by them all and feel energized to work with them, community organizations, the state and the South Georgia Conference to bring our residents and program participants new opportunities for their personal growth and fulfillment.”
