Recesso, Burroughs Join Middle Georgia State University

Dr. Art Recesso has joined Middle Georgia State University as assistant provost for Innovation and Outreach. In that role, Recesso is leading several units, including instructional design and development, innovations in teaching and learning, adult and continuing education and academic master planning. 

Recesso has been a faculty member at Valdosta State University and a researcher at the University of Georgia, focusing on evidential reasoning methods and technology tools for the assessment and support of leaders, instructors and learners. He is the founder of two technology startups.

He holds a Ph.D. in education administration and policy studies from State University of New York, University at Albany. Originally from Johnstown, N.Y., Recesso lives in Macon.

Dr. Lisa L. Burroughs has joined Middle Georgia State University as executive director of Human Resources. She is responsible for overseeing and executing a wide range of human resources functions in support of the university’s five campuses.

Most recently was vice president of Human Resources at MGT of America in Tallahassee, Fla., Burroughs has worked previously at Bainbridge State College and Georgia Institute of Technology. She holds an Ed.D. in organizational leadership with a specialization in human resource development from Nova Southeastern University.

Originally from Quincy, Fla., she now lives in Warner Robins.
