Macon Film Guild, Macon Film Festival, and Bragg Jam are partnering to present a screening of the music documentary The Wrecking Crew at The Douglass Theatre on Tuesday, July 21. This film screening will join the 10 days of film and music event and will become a part of the Macon Film Festival and Bragg Jam collaboration. Admission is free for all Macon Film Festival and Bragg Jam pass holders.
The Wrecking Crew is a documentary film produced and directed by Denny Tedesco, son of legendary late Wrecking Crew guitarist Tommy Tedesco. The film tells the story of the unsung musicians that provided the backbeat, the bottom and the swinging melody that drove many of the number one hits of the 1960’s.
The Wrecking Crew reveals the true story behind some of the biggest hit songs on record. The Wrecking Crew were a group of LA-based studio musicians who played on hits for The Beach Boys, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra, Sonny & Cher, Jan & Dean, The Monkees, Gary Lewis & The Playboys, Mamas & Papas, Tijuana Brass, Ricky Nelson, Johnny Rivers, and many more. They were also Phil Spector’s Wall Of Sound. Their body of work is tremendous, and their fascinating story is depicted in detail in this movie. The film is a fun and moving tribute to the music, the times and to the secret star-making machine known only as “The Wrecking Crew”.
