Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Houston County and Middle Georgia State University are teaming up to host a "Superhero" 5K and fun run to raise money to help children in foster care.

The 5K walk/run begins at 8 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, at the Warner Robins Campus of Middle Georgia State University. The fun run begins at 9 a.m. the same day and location. Runners are asked to dress as their favorite superheros. The 5K registration is $25; fun run registration is $12. Register by Friday, August 14, at http://www.casaofhoustoncounty.org/2015Superhero5k.html.

The Warner Robins Campus of Middle Georgia State University is located at 100 University Boulevard, directly across the street from Warner Robins City Hall on Watson Boulevard.

CASA is a national organization of screened and trained volunteers that judges appoint to speak for the safety and well-being of abused and neglected children.  They make recommendations to help children get placed in a forever home as quickly as possible.  Research shows that children with a CASA volunteer are much less likely to languish in long-term foster care.
