Friday, June 12th, 2015
The Perry Chamber of Commerce announces the Grand Marshal for the 2015 Independence Parade. Bruce Douglas is a Perry resident who served in Vietnam as an evacuation helicopter Pilot and is responsible for saving hundreds, if not thousands, of lives. His citations are numerous and impressive. They include a Silver Star, three Distinguished Flying Crosses, and a Bronze Star. Bruce is a quiet man who has always shied away from talking about how he performed his duty in Vietnam. He came back to Perry and became a successful farmer and businessman. He is most well known locally for being a great neighbor who is always willing to help others.
