Macon Occupational Medicine Announces New Medical Director

Macon Occupational Medicine, the premiere occupational and environmental medicine provider in Central Georgia, is pleased to announce the addition of our new Medical Director, Dr. Cathy Harper-Hogan. Dr. Hogan’s background and expertise brings a true excitement to the existing 30+ Highly Trained and Credentialed Staff at Macon Occupational Medicine.

Dr. Hogan was born in Washington, D.C. and grew up in Dickerson, Maryland.  She is married to Clinton Barnard Hogan and is the proud mother of Camera DeLain Hogan, a soon to be Honors graduate of Woodward Academy, who will be attending the University of Pittsburgh in the Fall of 2015, as a Chemistry major/Mathematics minor.

Dr. Hogan’s college years were spent at Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts.  Following college, she moved to Atlanta and worked as a Medical Technologist in Blood Banking at Grady Memorial Hospital, while also a full time graduate student at Atlanta University. After several years performing research in molecular genetics, she received a Masters of Arts degree in Science Education, writing the thesis, “The Impact of Society on the Production of Minority Students in the Sciences.”  She ultimately went on to Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan.  There, she was the President of the Black Medical Association and regional head of the Student National Medical Association. She received the school’s highest service honor, “The Ciba Geigy Award for Outstanding Community Service,” and was a member of the honor society, Aesculapians.

Dr. Hogan returned to Georgia and did her internship with Morehouse School of Medicine, as well as, a year of residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Emory University School of Medicine. She then completed her residency in Internal Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine. Dr. Hogan is Board Certified in Urgent Care Medicine and Board Eligible in Internal Medicine. In 2012, she participated in a Faculty Development Fellowship with Morehouse School of Medicine and continues to serve as an adjunct faculty member at several Georgia medical schools, teaching residents and medical students.

Over the years, she has been a staff physician for Wellstar Health Systems and Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation.  Later, she was the Medical Director for South Atlanta Urgent Care Center and QTC Medical performing disability evaluations on Veteran’s.  She is also a Medical Consultant for both the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency Disability Adjudication Services and for Alabama’s Disability Determination Service.  

Dr. Hogan recently completed training and testing to become a Certified Medical Review Officer and a Certified Medical Examiner by the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration. 

Macon Occupational Medicine, (MOM) is the first and only National Certified Occupational Medicine program in the State of Georgia.  Services are provided from 7:30 am until 5:00 pm, Monday thru Friday.  MOM provides a 24-hour network via an affiliation with local hospitals and urgent care facilities using protocols developed to keep employees on the job.  MOM is a Certified Drug Free Workplace and us accredited by the Drug and Alcohol Testing Industry Association.  MOM’s extensive service delivery model includes:
