Thursday, April 23rd, 2015
Cox Communications will present 70 Middle Georgia families with a free refurbished desktop computer during an event from 3 until 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 23rd, at the Cox Capital Theater, 382 2nd Street in downtown Macon. In order to receive the computer, families had to show a commitment to their student’s education during the months of February and March, by signing up for the Connect2Compete program. Connect2Compete is a K12 program run by EveryoneOn, a national, not-for-profit organization that connects low income families with reduced price high speed Internet, reduced priced computers and free digital training.
In addition to presenting these 70 families with their free refurbished computer, families that attend the event and sign up for Connect2Compete will also be sent home with a refurbished computer as well, while supplies last.
The computer giveaway is made possible by a grant from the James M. Cox Foundation. The grant, awarded to the Capital Area Corporate Recycling Council in Baton Rouge, LA, is supplying 500 refurbished computers to families in Cox’s Southeast Region including Middle Georgia.
