Mayor Randy Toms and several business and community leaders from throughout the Robins Region united with senior leaders from Robins Air Force Base to win it all in a very close match during the 4th Annual Robins Cup Golf Tournament.
Presented by the Robins Regional Chamber of Commerce Military Affairs Committee and sponsored by State Bank & Trust Company, the event’s purpose is for leaders to have a day of fun while appreciating and further enhancing the already great relationship between Robins Air Force Base and the local community.
The event matched Mayor Randy Toms and 35 community leaders with 36 senior Robins AFB leaders who competed in an 18 hole, two person scramble, match play event. Both community leaders and Robins AFB alike thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to network and strengthen ties during the event. Col Chris Hill led the Robins AFB Team.
“The 2015 Robins Cup was a phenomenal event,” said Mayor Toms. “The display of camaraderie between the community and the base was a great demonstration of the partnership and synergy we share. Everyone on the community team, is thrilled to finally have our first victory since the event’s inception.”
The Robins Cup will be retained by the winning team until surrendered in a subsequent annual Robins Cup Challenge. The goal is to continue the event as an annual tradition in order to preserve and maintain the connection between the base and local community. Both the community team and Robins AFB leaders took part in a reception prior to and following the tournament at Houston Lake Country Club; host of the April 24th event.
