Celebration of Life Event a Huge Success at The Cottages

Press release from the issuing company

Tuesday, April 14th, 2015

A community with a few residents over 90 is unusual, but nine of them is worthy of a special celebration. And the Cottages at Woodland Terrace in Milledgeville held a special celebration to honor these residents on Tuesday, April 7.

“I just think it’s amazing that these people are still among us, and the lives of these people need to be celebrated,” said Nancy Fullilove, community manager at The Cottages. “They need to know, before they are gone, how much they mean to their families, friends and community.”

These residents of this active senior community range from 90 to 97, and they were each presented with a jacket with “Nonagenarian” embroidered on the left side. “This way they can do some boasting when they are wearing it out in the community and people stop them to ask what the word means,” said Fullilove.

Anne DeLoach, Don and Merion Schepper, Sallie Holmes, Griff and Maredith Griffith, Ardith McDonald, Sue Dominy and Verlyn Hoffman were also presented with “Life Achievement” certificates. Each certificate included that specific resident’s accomplishment, of which they are most proud. Family members and other residents at The Cottages were present to honor the lives of these special residents, and light refreshments were served.

The attached picture is of one of The Cottages two nonagenarian couples, Maredith, age 94, and James “Griff” Griffith, age 97. Their honorary “adopted” son, Steve Wise, who presented them their awards is also pictured, along with Nancy Fullilove, community manager of The Cottages at Woodland Terrace.

The Cottages at Woodland Terrace is a gated senior community with one and two bedroom patio homes for sale and lease. This community is located at 1010 Fernwood Drive, in Milledgeville, just off highway 441.
