The SkillsUSA chapter at Central Georgia Technical College recently held a blue jean drive for the Mentors Project of Bibb County. SkillsUSA is an organization of students, instructors, and industry professionals who support career and technical education.

As part of membership, SkillsUSA students required to perform community service. The students chose the Mentors Project of Bibb County because it gave them the opportunity to motivate high school students to graduate and possibly attend CGTC.

For the entire month of February, CGTC SkillsUSA students encouraged others to spread a little love by donating new and gently used blue jeans for students in 7th to 12th grade who participate in the Mentors Project of Bibb County. Donation boxes were placed on the Warner Robins and Macon campuses. The SkillsUSA students are planning to make this an annual event.

Over 60 pairs of jeans along with several dozen shirts, skirts, and even shoes were donated to local teens in the central Georgia area.
