Central Georgia EMC Rates Continue to be Among Lowest

For the third year in a row, Central Georgia Electric Membership Corp. is the lowest-cost electric provider in the state of Georgia at two of the four levels of usage surveyed — the 2,000 kWh and 1,500 kWh levels.

The Winter 2015 Residential Rate Survey recently released by the Georgia Public Service Commission shows a Central Georgia EMC member who uses 2,000 kWh per month would pay $49.64 less than a Georgia Power customer and $61.47 less than the average electricity user in the state.

The survey also shows Central Georgia EMC charges less than Georgia Power and less than the state average at the 500 kWh level, and at the 1,000 kWh level. At the 500 kWh, Central Georgia EMC charges $61.60 while the state average is $66.23 and Georgia Power charges $64.61.

At 1,000 kWh, Central Georgia EMC charges $95.86 while Georgia Power charges $112.04 and the state average for electric utilities is $117.06.

“Central Georgia EMC continues to provide the lowest rates among the 94 electric providers throughout the state,” Central Georgia EMC President George L. Weaver said in a statement. “Central Georgia EMC’s board, staff and employees continue to make sound business decisions and provide a low-cost service to our members.”

In addition to having low rates, Central Georgia EMC received an overall customer satisfaction score of 9.05 out of a possible 10 in the most recent customer satisfaction survey conducted in the fourth quarter of 2014, the co-op said in the statement. In the survey, Central Georgia EMC scored highest in providing reliable service (9.01), having competent and knowledgeable employees (8.96) and being committed to the community (8.82).

Central Georgia EMC is services more than 52,000 billed accounts in Bibb, Butts, Clayton, Fayette, Henry, Jasper, Jones, Lamar, Monroe, Morgan, Newton, Pike, Putnam and Spalding counties.
