Each February, the American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors National Children's Dental Health Month to raise awareness about the importance of oral health. Developing good habits at an early age and scheduling regular dental visits helps children get a good start on a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.
In honor of National Children's Dental Health Month, the Macon-Bibb County Health Department (MBCHD) Dental staff will visit several local elementary schools to promote the benefits of good oral health to students. Oral health presentations are scheduled at Northwoods Academy, Morgan Elementary and McKibben Lane. A Sealant Day is scheduled at Jessie Rice Elementary, where free dental screenings and dental sealants will be offered. These visits offer students the opportunity to learn proper brushing and flossing techniques, the importance of regular dental visits, and the importance of developing good habits early in order to have a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.
The Dental Health Clinic at MBCHD provides a wide range of dental services to children ages 0-18. Services include school dental screenings, exams, cleanings, x-rays, fluoride varnish, sealants and fillings. For more information, contact the MBCHD Dental Clinic at (478) 749-0109.
MBCHD, located at 171 Emery Highway, works to protect the health of people and their environment wherever in our community they live, work and play.
