Central Georgia Technical College, in partnership with the Central Georgia Technical College Foundation, the Charles H. Jones Family Foundation, the Peyton Anderson Foundation, and Southern Company are hosting the grand opening for the Charles H. Jones Center Advanced Technology Center on Wednesday, February 25 at 3 p.m.

The grand opening of the Charles H. Jones Advanced Technology Center signifies the culmination of many years of planning and work to ensure this Center offers the best educational and training space for manufacturing and industrial jobs in the region. The Charles H. Jones Family Foundation provided a substantial gift to make the Center a reality and the Peyton Anderson Foundation provided a gift of $100,000 for lab equipment. Additionally, Southern Company has provided over $1 million in equipment to make it a premier site for industrial training opportunities. Other industry partners participated in the planning of the facility as members of the Industrial Core Planning team. This group assisted in advising the College on the types of training and equipment needed for incumbent worker training in the Jones Center. Those partners include First Quality, YKK-USA, The Trane Company, Graphic Packaging International, and Armstrong World Industries.

The Charles H. Jones Advanced Technology Center will serve to strengthen economic development in the Macon and central Georgia area by supporting the growth of the manufacturing industry by providing responsive services to new and existing industries. The Center includes integrated information, mechanical, and electronic engineering classrooms; state-of-the-art manufacturing and industrial labs and resources; and multiple levels of study for college students, job incumbents, and industry managers that will enable CGTC and Macon and surrounding areas to retain and grow manufacturing and other industry jobs.
