Press release from the issuing company

Wednesday, December 17th, 2014

Helms College, the post-secondary culinary arts and hospitality education institution operated by Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA, has been awarded three-year re-accreditation by the Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET).

The renewal of Helms College accreditation comes after an extensive review and multiple site visits to Augusta and Macon campuses of Helms College by representatives of ACCET, a Washington, D.C.-based organization nationally recognized as an authority on career education and training programs. In addition to providing an important seal of approval for Helms College, re-accreditation ensures Helms College students will continue to have access to federal Title IV funding, including Pell grants and student loans.

“Our Helms College staff worked very hard to prepare for ACCET’s site visits and program audits leading to this re-accreditation,” said Jim Stiff, President of Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA. “As a result, Helms College students will continue to benefit from high-quality educational programs that are creating the next generation of leaders in culinary arts and the hospitality industry, with access to high-demand fields that provide good-paying careers in our community.”

Helms College, which offers certificate, diploma and associate degree programs in culinary arts and hospitality, was founded in Middle Georgia by Goodwill in 2007 and expanded to Augusta in 2012. Helms College is a subsidiary of Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA, which also operates Helms Career Institute with health sciences and salon services programs on campuses in Milledgeville and Macon.

Enrollment is underway for winter classes, which start Jan. 12. For more information, contact Helms College admissions staff at (706) 651-9707, or go to www.helms.edu.
