Tuesday, November 4th, 2014

The Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee in collaboration with the Family-2-Family Foundation Inc. is very excited to kick off the 2014 Christmas Assistance Program for service members in need.  For some of you this is new and I want to say WELCOME ABOARD!!!

The Christmas Assistance Program is designed to be a supplemental program for service members that are struggling financially for various reasons such as but not limited to unemployment, illness, wounded or a single parent; and are not able to provide for their children.  The service members are all in a different status.  They are either deployed, recently returned, wounded warrior or a traditional guardsman.  In the past eight years through the generosity of our community partners we were able to assist 1,592 military families 3,628 military children. Each service member in need fills out an applications and eligibility is approved through their chain of command.

In order to ensure the success of The Christmas Assistance Program, we are seeking contributions from the community as these service members also live in your communities. Generous donors like you are the key to our success and make it possible to provide military children and families in need with assistance and critical services.  We hope that we can count on your support to help us show our military children that their sacrifices are appreciated by giving them the most amazing Christmas they could imagine!

There are many ways you can help sponsor a family.  These opportunities are as follows but not limited to:

  • Adopt a child(ren)
  • A monetary donation through the Family-2-Family Foundation
  • Gift Cards
  • Toy donations
  • Clothes donations
  • Non-perishable food items

We ask that all items are delivered to the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce located at 305 Coliseum Drive or you may schedule a pick up time at your location by contacting Gwen Badie at 678-569-5209 or email [email protected].

The deadline to deliver or have items picked up is December 5th, 2014.  This will allow us to gift wrap the items and get them out to our families.  This program supports Service members at Robins AFB and throughout the state of Georgia.  If you know of other organizations that would like to help military children please pass this along or have them contact me directly.

We thank you in advance for your willingness to help our men & woman who selflessly serve our country.
