Carolyn Smothers Named Dwight Love Award Recipient

Carolyn Smothers, long-time Tattnall Square Academy faculty member, was selected as the 2014 Dwight Love Award recipient. Mrs. Smothers was chosen for modeling excellence in her profession, giving beyond the classroom, and promoting the Georgia Council of Teachers of Mathematics and its mission.
Mrs. Smothers, who has served as the head of Tattnall's Math department for over 25 years, is most well known for her Championship Math program at TSA. During her tenure at TSA, she has taught Geometry, Algebra I, and Algebra II and 8 years ago, she added Problem Solving, which was designed with the intention of preparing her students for math competitions. As a teacher and Math Team coach, Mrs. Smothers was crucial in developing the Tattnall Varsity Math Team, which won the GISA State Math Team Championship in 2010, 2011, and 2012, an unprecedented accomplishment.
