Thursday, November 13, 2014 is the third annual Georgia Gives Day— a day of online giving for Georgia nonprofits. Thanks to generous grants from the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation and the Community Foundation of Central Georgia Board of Directors, the Community Foundation will be awarding $90,500 in prizes to nonprofits in Central Georgia!

Prizes will be available to participating nonprofits based in Baldwin, Bibb, Bleckley, Butts, Coffee, Crawford, Dodge, Houston, Jasper, Jones, Lamar, Laurens, Monroe, Peach, Pulaski, Spalding, Taylor, Twiggs, Upson, and Wilkinson counties.

Nonprofits who are planning to participate for the first time this year must register for Georgia Gives Day by October 1, 2014 at www.gagivesday.org.

Prize criteria and amounts will differ based on the county the nonprofit is located in and the grant given to the Community Foundation. Here are a few examples of the prizes offered:

  • Power Hour – for the organization who raises the greatest number of donations from unique donors during a specified hour time period.
  • Quick Start – for the first organization to reach $500 in donations from at least three unique donors.
  • Donor Dash – for the organization that receives the greatest number of distinct donations on Georgia Gives Day.

A full list of the prizes is available here.

Nonprofits can learn more about Georgia Gives Day and the prizes offered by the Community Foundation of Central Georgia via a webinar October 3rd or by attending one of three information sessions hosted by the Community Foundation. Information sessions will be held in Macon (October 10), Milledgeville (October 24 - tentative), and Warner Robins (September 22- tentative).

Through contributions and prizes last year, central Georgia nonprofits raised more than $200,000 on Georgia Gives Day 2013!  Nonprofits across the state of Georgia raised nearly $1.5 million dollars in a single day.

Community Foundation President Kathryn Dennis said, “We hope Georgia Gives Day 2014 will be a success for local nonprofits. Georgia Gives Day should be a catalyst for engaging nonprofits in online giving and new donors to philanthropy.”
