On Tuesday, September 23 at 11:00 a.m., cancer survivor Jaime Kaplan will visit oncology patients at CH. Kaplan will make cupcakes with the patients and encourage them in their fight against cancer. Cupcake items will be donated by Lakejona’s Bakery in Macon, Ga.  Bakery owner Marquetta Brooks’ daughter is a cancer survivor who was treated at CH. This is not a public event, but media are invited to attend.

“As a leukemia survivor, I have seen firsthand what cancer does to adults. It is unimaginable that any child should have to deal with the harshness of cancer. They are the bravest people I know and show so much courage. I am excited and blessed to be able to share some time with these little heroes,” said Kaplan.

According to the American Childhood Cancer Organization, approximately 13,000 children between birth and age 19 are diagnosed with cancer each year.CH provides inpatient and outpatient care for pediatric oncology patients.
