Sierra Development Group Inc., Mercer University and Renfroe Outdoor Advertising have teamed up to design and install on the side of 401 Cherry Street a 3,500-square foot mural celebrating Macon’s music heritage and its home to Mercer University. The building, located at the corner of Cherry Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, houses the Lofts at Cherry Street, as well as offices for Sierra Development and other businesses.

The mural, which covers the width of the building and spans eight stories, will face east, toward the Douglass Theatre and I-16. Designed by Steve Mosley, Mercer’s assistant vice president for creative services, the mural commemorates Macon’s influence on Southern Rock and as the home of the Mercer Bears athletic teams.
