The Medical Center of Central Georgia and Mid Georgia Ambulance have announced a joint operating agreement that will improve efficiency in the emergency care that is offered to central Georgians while lowering both operating and capital costs for both entities.
The agreement between MCCG and MGA is not a merger or an acquisition. Rather, it is a collaboration that will improve public safety by combining emergency response coverage, streamlining patient transfers, and pooling human capital and financial resources to add value for patients. MCCG and MGA will work together to exchange best practices, combine resources and reduce costs by taking advantage of a shared service model while remaining independent.
“The goal of this partnership is to provide a consistent level of high quality care through the collaborative development of protocols and procedures for local emergency response services. The Medical Center of Central Georgia and Mid Georgia Ambulance desire to enhance the health and wellness of residents in the communities we serve. We are each committed to providing access to high quality care at the right cost, and we realize that this can be accomplished more efficiently through a coordinated effort, “said Dr. Ninfa Saunders, President and Chief Executive Officer, MCCG.
The agreement will improve the teamwork between emergency responders and expand their roles in the delivery of care. In addition, emergency responders will be able to take advantage of course offerings at MCCG’s Center for Learning, enhancing their job skills to support the evolution of population health management.
