The Macon Bibb County Convention and Visitors Bureau is proud to announce Gary Wheat as its new President and CEO, effective January 3rd. Wheat will relocate from Aurora, Colorado, where he has served as President/CEO of Visit Aurora, a destination marketing organization he launched in 2010. Wheat has led four CVBs, two of which he launched, and has been successful in developing innovative approaches to growing tax revenues and creating tourism products.

The Big House became a place where members of the award-winning Southern rockers, The Allman Brothers Band, their roadies, friends and family lived and the growing collection of items on view include instruments the band members played, clothing, music, receipts for spending expenses, news articles and more. Museum staff estimates that the museum’s archives contain about 50,000-75,000 pieces.

The pair later split, and Driver took over the Macon and Columbus offices with the name Geotechnical & Environmental Consultants, Inc., or GEC, and he later added an office in LaGrange. Now Driver, president and senior engineer for Geotechnical & Environmental Consultants, wants to thank the community for supporting him and his team with the celebration of 25 years of service on July 15th.
