NewTown Macon Celebrates 30 Years with Annual Tour of Progress
Wednesday, October 14th, 2026
NewTown Macon will mark its 30th anniversary with the return of its annual Tour of Progress, presented by Huntington Bank, on Friday, October 16, from 5 to 8 pm. The free, family-friendly walking tour gives the public a behind-the-scenes look at downtown Macon's ongoing development, guided by NewTown Macon staff.
This year's tour starts at Gilmer Warehouse & Logistics and ends at Neel's Lofts, where guests will gather for a courtyard celebration featuring food, drinks and live music. Tours depart every 10 minutes starting at 5 pm, with the last tour departing at 6:20 pm. A dedicated mobility tour will be offered at 6 pm for those who need it.
"Thirty years ago, someone had to believe downtown Macon was worth investing in," said Erin Keller, Chief of Staff and Vice President for Development at NewTown Macon. "Tour of Progress is our chance to walk people through what that belief has built, block by block, and introduce them to the people carrying it forward."
Since its founding in 1996, NewTown Macon has invested time, resources, and money in local people and businesses to revitalize downtown Macon. The Tour of Progress gives residents and visitors a firsthand look at the real estate projects, small businesses, and public spaces shaped by that investment.
Registration is free and open to the public. There are limited seats on the mobility-assisted tour. To register for the mobility tour, you can email [email protected].
