Central Georgia Technical College (CGTC) will host a ceremony Thursday, October 8, at 2 p.m. to honor Houston County native Sonny Perdue with the naming of its administration building on the Warner Robins Campus. The building’s new name will honor Dr. George Ervin “Sonny” Perdue, III for his distinguished record of public service and steadfast support of higher education in Georgia. 

In April, the College’s local board of directors approved a recommendation to the State Board of the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) to name its administration building on the Warner Robins campus as the “Dr. Sonny Perdue Administration Building.” The TCSG State Board approved the proposal in May.  

The building is located at the College’s main campus at 80 Cohen Walker Drive and houses the College’s offices of Academic Affairs, Adult Education, Enrollment Services, Student Affairs, and General Education classrooms. 

Dr. Perdue, a Houston County native, was recognized by the College’s Board of Directors and the TCSG State Board as a great friend and benefactor of the College whose leadership and advocacy helped shape the institution’s growth and success. During more than a decade of service in the Georgia Senate, Dr. Perdue worked to secure funding for the design, construction, and equipping of the Warner Robins campus of the former Middle Georgia Technical College, which is now CGTC.  

The event will feature comments from local leaders including former Houston County Commission Chair Tommy Stalnaker, TCSG Commissioner Greg Dozier, and Dan Perdue, Chair for the Houston County Board of Commissioners, and the honoree himself.
