Macon-Bibb County’s Office of Small Business Affairs (OSBA) hosted and co-hosted five workshops and panels throughout March, reaching nearly 800 participants across the community.

“These workshops and panels are about making sure our small businesses have access to the information, connections, and opportunities they need to grow,” said OSBA Director Charise Stephens. “When we invest in our entrepreneurs, we are investing in the future of Macon-Bibb.”

From procurement training to networking opportunities, these events connected entrepreneurs with real tools and resources to expand their businesses. More than 230 people attended a statewide procurement workshop at the Macon Mall, while 124 participated in an arena subcontractor discussion with project partners to learn about upcoming bid opportunities. OSBA also hosted a bilingual Vendor Readiness & Contracting Workshop with 50 attendees.

The month also included the fifth annual Women’s History Month Business Panel, which brought in 175 people in person and another 200 viewers online, focusing on leadership, financial literacy, and long-term growth. Through these efforts, OSBA continues to open doors for small, local, and minority-owned businesses—helping strengthen Macon-Bibb’s economy and create more opportunities across the community.

OSBA is teaming up with STAG Vets, Inc. to host a free NRCS Technical Assistance Training workshop on Friday, April 17, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Macon Mall. The hands-on workshop will provide farmers, ranchers, and veterans with practical training and resources to support agricultural success.

Topics will include raised bed farming, heir property rights, farming as a business, record keeping, hydroponics and aeroponics, food preservation, e-commerce, and value-added production. Lunch will be provided.
