The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA) hosted their bi-annual Industry Partners Luncheon at the new Technology and Innovation Academy on Thursday to kick off Manufacturing Month. The focus of the luncheon was the new Advanced Manufacturing Pathway within the W.S. Hutchings College and Career Academy.

In opening the luncheon, Executive Director of the MBCIA, Stephen Adams, conveyed the importance of MBCIA and the school system working together on the effort.

“The new Advanced Manufacturing Pathway will help boost the workforce and the career readiness of students,” said Adams. “This partnership is key to making it happen.”

Dr. Cassandra Washington, Executive Director and CEO of Career, Technical, and Agriculture Education (CTAE), gave an update on the Advanced Manufacturing Pathway and what students will experience by taking classes at the Technology and Innovation Academy.

"The knowledge and skills students will learn through the advanced manufacturing pathway will equip them to go straight into the workforce if they choose to after high school,” said Dr. Washington.

Mayor Lester Miller also gave a community update and answered crowd questions.

Following the luncheon, attendees were invited to observe classrooms through large glass windows, offering a clear view of the learning activities inside.
