Macon’s Big Bike Ride Returns for Second Year

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, September 11th, 2025

Bike Walk Macon is thrilled to announce the return of Macon’s Big Bike Ride on Saturday, November 8, 2025. In its second year, this powerful event and fundraiser will unite hundreds of Middle Georgia bicyclists to champion safer, more connected streets and promote a healthier, thriving community. This year’s ride also marks a special milestone as Bike Walk Macon continues its 10th anniversary celebration of advocating for safer, people-friendly streets across Macon-Bibb County.

This year’s ride will celebrate the life and legacy of Josh Rogers, a passionate advocate for walkable and bikeable streets in Macon and a founding Bike Walk Macon Board Member. The route will connect locations tied to Josh’s work, including Downtown improvements and the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail. Riders will come together for a heartfelt tribute, carrying forward his vision for a stronger, more connected city.

"Josh's influence and vision for a more connected Macon can be felt throughout downtown and the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail," said Mike Ford, Director of Trails at NewTown Macon. "He believed sincerely that all Maconites should have access to economic opportunity, beautiful public spaces, and a sense of community, which can all be achieved through walkable and bikeable networks."

Macon’s Big Bike Ride is more than just a ride - it’s a movement. Participants of all ages and abilities are invited to join the celebration, advocate for safer streets, and support the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail. Festivities include a kick-off party at the newly renovated Rosa Parks Square, the community ride, and an after-party at Fall Line Brewing Co. to support the Ocmulgee Heritage Trail.
