AT&T and Human I-T provided the Warner Robins Unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia 50 refurbished laptops and backpacks stuffed with school supplies today to distribute to Warner Robins students and families.
“At the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia, we work every day to support our youth and provide them with the resources they need to reach their full potential. Thanks to AT&T’s donation of laptops and backpacks, the youth and families we serve in Warner Robins now have greater access to the tools they need to learn, grow and thrive in a digital world,” said Phillip Bryant, President & CEO, Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia. “We appreciate AT&T’s continued commitment to helping close the digital equity gap in our communities and for their support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia.”
This event is part of a broader AT&T employee effort to help bridge the digital divide and distribute 30,000 backpacks filled with school supplies and laptops to students in qualifying households before they head back to school. The backpacks included supplies like notebooks, pencils and headphones, as well as cards of encouragement written by AT&T employees.
“Access to technology is essential for our youth to succeed in today’s world. I’m proud to see this partnership between AT&T, Human IT, and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Central Georgia bringing valuable resources directly to the young people of Warner Robins,” Mayor LaRhonda W. Patrick, City of Warner Robins. “This kind of investment in our future leaders is exactly what community is all about.”
This effort is part of AT&T’s initiative to help address the digital divide through internet accessibility, affordability and safe adoption. AT&T is committing $5 billion to help 25 million people get and stay connected to high-speed internet by 2030.
“AT&T is committed to helping close the digital divide, and we are proud to support the Warner Robins Unit of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Georgia by providing laptops and backpacks to Warner Robins youth and families,” said Stan Shepherd, Regional Director of External Affairs, AT&T Georgia. “Through this collaboration, we are creating pathways of success for Warner Robins youth and connecting more Georgians to greater possibility.”
