Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce Presents the 2025 State of the Community
Monday, April 7th, 2025
On Tuesday, April 22, 2025, the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce will host its highly anticipated State of the Community Program, featuring an address by Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller. The event begins at 11 a.m. with a luncheon at the historic Macon City Auditorium, followed by the mayor’s address at noon.
Mayor Miller will provide a comprehensive update on Macon-Bibb’s recent milestones and future plans. In 2024, Macon was named a Top 10 Metro City for economic development, driven by private investments and industrial growth. NewTown Macon earned the Great American Main Street Award, and tourism surged, generating $458.3 million for the local economy.
Looking ahead, major projects include the Central City Commons redevelopment, new infrastructure like the I-16 westbound ramp and the SPLOST extension, funding parks, community centers, and other improvements to enhance quality of life.
"The State of the Community is a vital opportunity to reflect on Macon’s incredible momentum and chart our path forward," said Jessica Walden, President & CEO of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce. "From record-breaking economic development to transformative infrastructure projects, our community is thriving thanks to strong leadership and collaboration. We look forward to hearing Mayor Miller’s vision for the future and continuing to support growth that benefits all of Macon-Bibb."
Attendees will also enjoy a Taste of Macon, featuring over a dozen local restaurants that are proud Chamber investors, showcasing some of the best flavors the city has to offer.
New this year, ticketing to individual balcony seating will be made available. "For the last few years, the State of the Community table seating has reached capacity, and we've had to declare the program sold out," added Walden. "By opening the balcony seating, we have more capacity and create more accessibility to attend the Mayor's annual address."
