New Houston County Industry Invests in Statewide Relief Efforts

The Development Authority of Houston County (DAHC) recognizes a new local industry’s investment in Georgia communities by providing relief to those in South Georgia who were affected by Hurricane Helene.
In response to the needs of communities impacted by Hurricane Helene, Jack Link’s is donating 12,000 pounds of shelf-stable meat sticks. Jack Links answered the call from DAHC with plans to donate a truck load of beef jerky products to South Georgia communities in need. The meat sticks are individually wrapped and will be delivered to Second Harvest of South Georgia.
Jack Link's employees stand among pallets delivered to Second Harvest of South Georgia, holding the shelf-stable beef sticks to be delivered to those in need.
This donation is intended to provide a convenient, ready-to-eat food option for those displaced by the storm or facing hardships. Packed in individual boxes, the meat sticks are shelf-stable, making them ideal for people who may not have access to refrigeration or cooking facilities.
“DAHC is proud to work with industries that are so willing to serve the South Georgia community. Jack Link’s is in the process of building facilities in Houston County, and even though they are not currently operational, they are still more than willing to serve those impacted by Hurricane Helene,” DAHC Executive Director Angie Gheesling said. “Their generosity and willingness to serve the people of Georgia is greatly appreciated, and we’re proud to work with an industry who goes above and beyond to be a community advocate.”
Jack Link’s is currently building a new production facility on a 120-acre site in the Houston County I-75 GRAD Certified Site in Perry. Founded in the 1880s, the company remains family-owned and operated and takes pride in its rural roots. That pride is demonstrated in Jack Link’s effort to invest not only in the economic development of Middle Georgia, but the communities in need statewide.
“Our thoughts are with those affected by Hurricane Helene,” said Brandon Walters, COO of Jack Link’s. “As we continue to build our plant in Perry, Georgia, we feel a strong responsibility to support the surrounding communities — not only as a company but as a neighbor in the area. During times of hardship, it’s important for us to do what we can to assist. We hope this donation provides some comfort and relief to those who need it most, and we remain committed to helping in any way we can.”
Jack Link’s would also like to extend its gratitude to the local volunteers, first responders, and community organizations who are working around the clock to help those affected by the hurricane. Their dedication is making a real difference, and Jack Link’s is honored to assist in this effort. For those interested in further supporting relief efforts, donations can be made to the American Red Cross, which continues to play a critical role in providing aid and recovery assistance in the region.
