Upcoming Statewide Day of Giving Showcases How Nonprofits Impact Communities and Drives Support for Them in the Giving Season

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, September 24th, 2024

Fall is in the air, marking the kickoff to the end-of-the-year giving season for nonprofits. Nonprofits generally raise 15% or more of their total annual budgets during November and December – and almost entirely from individual donors – so this is a make-or-break time for charities supporting local needs.

On December 3rd, the Georgia Center for Nonprofits (GCN) will again lead GAgives on GivingTuesday – the state's largest single day of generosity, when people of all backgrounds and means select causes they care about and show their support through financial donations and social sharing.

2023’s GAgives on GivingTuesday raised $33.17 million, thanks to thousands of generous Georgians – a 13% increase from 2022.

Every one of Georgia’s 501(c)3 nonprofits are able to partake in this special day of giving – and by registering (for free!) on GAgives.org, they can take advantage of live, no-cost workshops, opportunities to be featured in the official GAgives marketing campaign, and donor-motivating prize competitions. Registration is free of charge, and currently open for nonprofits at GAgives.org for the 2024 GAgives on GivingTuesday campaign.

A full suite of complementary resources is available through GAgives.org, provided to assist nonprofits in maximizing their GAgives donations. All Georgia nonprofits can access an updated marketing and engagement toolkit on GAgives.org, featuring customizable graphics, peer-to-peer fundraising resources, platform tutorials, sample messaging and templates for rallying supporters, and more. In addition, nonprofits registered by October 11 can compete for a range of prizes funded by official GAgives sponsors, each designed to motivate donors to give moreFor the chance to be included in the official GAgives outreach campaign, GAgives PSAs, and other promotional opportunities designed to engage people across Georgia, nonprofits must register by October 11.

New and returning sponsors are invited to join in this statewide day of giving as well: GAgives has multiple sponsorship opportunities available, customizable by budget and areas of support. Last year alone, sponsors provided nonprofits with an additional $30,000 in funding, distributed through a variety of giving competitions created to engage donors and incentivize higher rates of giving. This year’s list of GAgives sponsors already includes Aprio, Arby’s Foundation, Smurfit Westrock, and more. Details for participating can be found on the GAgives partner page.
