Each year, Atrium Heath Navicent honors the selfless spirit of its volunteers by celebrating National Volunteer Week. Atrium Health Navicent offers a wide variety of volunteer opportunities for people who are looking to make a difference in their community.

The health system provides volunteers with an opportunity to use their skills and abilities to make a positive impact on the patient and family experience across all Atrium Health Navicent campuses. There are unique opportunities for adults, college students and teenagers.

“In addition to giving of their time and hearts, volunteers provide an extra level of service that takes patient experience to a whole new level,” said Kenan Hodges, Atrium Health Navicent’s Patient Experience Program Director. “We are incredibly grateful for our volunteers and welcome those who might be looking for a place to serve to join our program.”

Adults ages 18 or older are asked to volunteer a minimum of 100 hours annually. College students ages 18 years or older can enroll in Atrium Health Navicent's Student Volunteer Program. Students are required to fulfill 30-50 volunteer hours a semester. Acceptance for teens volunteers, ages 16-18 years old, is based on a completed and approved application. Volunteers must be 16 years old by Sept. 30, 2024.

“We always get more out of it than we ever give. The nurses and doctors make us feel really useful and that we’re important to the hospital,” said Linda Lindsey, a volunteer at Atrium Health Levine Children’s Beverly Knight Olson Children’s Hospital. “We love what we do there. It gives me such joy to give back and help where I can.”

Volunteer opportunities are available at Atrium Health Navicent facilities in Baldwin, Bibb and Peach counties. Examples of volunteer roles include working in a gift shop or at an information desk, providing customer service or assistance with guest relations, staffing family waiting rooms and lounges, assisting with patient wayfinding and patient safety, patient family advising and more.
